The State Association of Parents in Guanajuato announced it will ask local representatives to recall health booklets distributed by the federal government to 10-19 year olds, which promote both contraception and the morning after pill.  The association claims that the booklet violates the right of parents to determine the kind of education their children will receive on sexual matters.

The representative of the association, Hilarino Diaz Serna, said he decided to request the recall after Guanajuato’s health secretary, Jorge Aguirre, said that the booklet's distribution was a policy of the federal Secretariat of Health.

The association will also file a complaint with Mexico’s Human Rights Office because the sexual content of the booklets is a violation of the rights of children.

Diaz Serna lamented that the booklets promote sexual promiscuity and noted that the sexual education of minors is the responsibility of parents.
