In his Sunday Angelus, Pope Benedict XVI looked toward the summit which begins next Tuesday in Annapolis, Maryland, between the Palestinians and Israelis to achieve “a just and definitive solution” to the conflict over the past six decades in the Holy Land.
“Next Tuesday, ... Israelis and Palestinians, with the help of the international community, will attempt to re-launch the negotiation process to find a just and lasting solution to the 60 year long conflict …” that has led to “many tears and suffering” among the two groups, said the Holy Father during his midday Angelus from the atrium of St. Peter’s Basilica.
The Pontiff made a call to take part in the “World Day of Prayer” requested by the Conference of Catholic Bishops of the United States to ask the “Spirit of God” to bring peace to the Holy Land and for wisdom and courage for its leaders.
