Pope Benedict launched an appeal for two priests who were kidnapped in Mosul, Iraq following yesterday's Angelus prayers.

He related that, "Everyday news continues to pour in from Iraq, with grave reports of attacks and violence." "Among these reports, I have learned of the kidnapping of two good priests in Mosul, who are being threatened with death," said the Pope.

Benedcit's appeal to the kidnappers was that they would, "free these two men of religion."

He also reminded his listeners that violence is never the solution to conflicts and concluded with a prayer for the abducted priests to be freed soon and the restoration of peace to all who are suffering.
