On Dec. 8, the day the Church celebrates the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, thousands of women in different countries around the world gathered to pray the holy rosary for peace and for the defense of life.
The first Worldwide Women’s Rosary was held in the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, and other countries.
The initiative originated in Colombia with the aim of uniting women in defense of churches from vandalism, for the family, motherhood, and to proudly say that “we are daughters of the Blessed Virgin Mary and we want to follow her example.”
The Women’s Rosary was streamed on social media, where faithful could also be seen praying in the cities of Iquique, Angol, and Vallenar in Chile.
Images of women praying the holy rosary were also released in Tegucigalpa and Cuernavaca in Mexico as well as in Sydney, Australia.
