The Spanish organization, Professionals for Ethics (PFE), warned this week that the State Federation of Lesbians, Gays, Transsexuals and Bisexuals in the country is distributing a guide to high school teachers on how to teach respect for sexual diversity during Catholic religion classes.
“We are dealing here with a far-reaching cultural project aimed at overthrowing our values and even the beliefs of citizens regardless of means,” warned Jaime Urcelay, president of PFE.
The guide “mixes biblical texts, quotes from the teachings of the Catholic Church, along with current-day issues,” and proposes that students be taught about various kinds of families: “adoptive, extended, heterosexual, homosexual, single parent,” among others.
The guide also teaches students to appreciate sexual diversity and encourages teachers not to “presuppose the heterosexuality of their students or their families,” PFE warned.
