Members of the Knights of Columbus delivered 100,000 military prayer books to the headquarters of the Military Archdiocese for the Military Services in Washington, D.C. on Saturday.
The book, titled “Armed with the Faith: A Catholic Handbook for Military Personnel,” has had 500,000 copies printed and donated since 2003, the Knights of Columbus told CNA. The version for members of the armed forces is spiral bound, printed on special coated stock paper and is sized to fit in the pockets of field uniforms.
The prayer books are distributed by Catholic chaplains in all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Another version of the book, printed on regular paper, is offered to the families of service members through the Knights of Columbus Catholic Information Service.
In 2009 the Knights of Columbus produced a book “Armour of Faith: A Catholic Handbook for Canadian Military Personnel.” The Knights report that 30,000 copies were printed and distributed for Canadian soldiers.
