A White House spokesman has described as “inaccurate” a report that President Barack Obama had decided to make a Camp David chapel his primary church.
Time Magazine had reported that the president told aides he would make Evergreen Chapel, a non-denominational church at Camp David, his main church. Former President George W. Bush had chosen the same church in order to avoid a public scene when he attends services. Time had reported President Obama had made his choice for similar reasons.
During his run for the presidency, Obama left the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, following a controversy surrounding its former pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
Time described Camp David chaplain Lt. Carey Cash as the “polar opposite” of Wright.
However, White House Spokesman Bill Burton said the story that the president chose the Camp David chapel as his church was “inaccurate.”
“The president and first family continue to look for a church home. They have enjoyed worshipping at Camp David and several other congregations over the months, and will choose a church at the time that is best for their family," he said, according to Fox News.
