The president of the Honduran Congress, Roberto Micheletti, has put forth a proposal calling for the creation of a law that would strengthen the family, in an initiative that is coinciding with the “Month of the Family” in Honduras.
According to the website Hondudiariohn.com, “the purpose of the law will be to promote and strengthen the development of the family as the foundation of society and the essential place for the comprehensive development of the human person, based on respect for fundamental rights and the law, with special protection for those families that are living in poverty, extreme poverty or social danger.”
Likewise, the measure would call for new policies and actions to provide families with assistance, especially single mother families. City governments and private and public institutions would also be encouraged to provide counseling for families.
