My last two articles dealt with background on what is causing the problem of finding the right person. In this final installment, it is time to address directly the answer to the question of where is Mr./Ms. Right and how do you find that person.
I’m sure some are expecting me to say that they are on Ave Maria Singles and that is where all single Catholics must go to find a good spouse. Well, I certainly do recommend that any single Catholic who is strong in their Catholic faith and believes they are to be married look into this website. But this website only proves the point that devout, practicing single Catholics are scattered everywhere, throughout all the cracks of society. Ave Maria Singles is just a way to gather as many of them as possible into one place for the purpose of coming into contact with each other.
We have already established that the numbers of practicing Catholics are fewer and the mainstream ways of meeting are broken down, or gone all together. So a single person must get very creative if they are to meet others like themselves.
It is my experience that the community of Catholics strong in their faith and trying hard to live their Catholic faith is a small, and tightly connected group. Therefore, if you find a way to plug yourself into this community, it should be very easy to come into contact with other single Catholics who would make wonderful spouses.
But for many, that is easier said then done, it seems. The busy-ness of life, and perhaps even the lack of ability to take initiative, is keeping many from tapping into this community.
This community of strong Catholics cannot be pointed to in one place. It is made up of many organizations and individuals. Certainly, there are some organizations and individuals that are “known” for their orthodoxy, and thus serve as sources of recommendation. You then find there are conferences, colleges, websites, events, singles trips, etc., all of which are known throughout this community. There are too many to list here, but just contact me if you want to know good organizations or individuals who are known in this community.
Then you “engage” yourself in the events and activities of these sources. Get to know everyone you can within this community. And then, something that is age-old, and time-tested happens; namely, the personal introduction or recommendation.
I am telling you that everybody knows someone who is single. And all those who are in this tight Catholic community knows someone who is a great Catholic and person that they would just love to see married. If you really work at facilitating this, you should not have a problem coming into contact with many great single Catholics.
The key is to get yourself (heroically, if necessary) into environments that God can use to help you come into contact with potential Mr./Ms. Right, even if it is a soup kitchen, or some other mission. Because while in the environment, you cannot help but brush up with those who are single or know someone who is.
The whole reason I started www.AveMariaSingles.com was specifically to create an even easier environment for God to use to help single Catholics strong in their faith and ready for the vocation of marriage. In this environment, you are instantly brushing up against thousands of like-minded single Catholics. And we now offer offline trips to help with in person environments that facilitate getting to know a group of single Catholics.
But whatever the environment, find them and get yourself steeped into them. Consider it an investment in your future and your vocation. The effort and expense will be well worth it. Ultimately, ask anyone you know that you trust for help on where and how to meet good single Catholics. There is nothing that compares to a personal recommendation.
