This is the official logo and motto of Pope Francis’ trip to Mexico
The Mexican Bishops Conference presented the logo and motto of Pope Francis trip to Mexico during a Mass on December 12, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, in Saint Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican.
The motto “Pope Francis: Missionary of Mercy and Peace” seeks to convey the most representative concepts of his pontificate: mercy, justice, committment, peace and hope.
Thus describing a pope who goes out to meet people, especially the most needy, so they may find the love of God and his presence in this world, the official website of the trip explains.
The logo features line drawings of the pope in the middle along with Our Lady of Guadalupe with her mantel covered with stars, and an outline map of Mexico.
At the top of the logo is the Cross found on the shrine’s door. At the bottom it reads “Mexico 2016” and the motto of the visit.
The colors used in the logo are the red and green of the Mexican flag and the yellow of the Vatican’s flag.
