The rosary, a "contemplative and Christocentric prayer, inseparable from the meditation of sacred Scripture," is "the prayer of the Christian who advances in the pilgrimage of faith, in the following of Jesus, preceded by Mary."
-Pope Benedict XVI, Invitation to Families to Pray the Rosary, Oct. 1, 2006
Why we pray the rosary
In imitation of Christ we entrust ourselves into the hands of Mary in order to take full advantage of the maternal role the Father has given her in our lives. Through the Rosary, Mary cooperates with the Holy Spirirt to educate and form her children in the image of Jesus. Through her intercession Mary disposes her children to know and to receive the grace to do her Son's will.
How to use the rosary below
The rosary below is designed to help you know which prayers are said on each bead. Begin by clicking on the "Next Bead" icon. The crucifix on the rosary will become highlighted and the prayer, The Apostles Creed, will appear. Continue to click on "Next Bead" and each prayer will appear that is to be said on the highlighted bead. Also while saying the prayers for each bead, the gray rectangular box above the rosary will show which Mystery of the rosary you can be meditating on during that section of the rosary.
